This page sets out the standards TechPulse holds itself to, what we do when we get something wrong, and how advertising relates to what we publish. If you think we have fallen short of any of it, tell us at our contact page and we will look into it.
What We Publish
TechPulse covers four things: developer guides, hardware and tooling reviews, fixes for specific technical errors, and direct answers to recurring career questions. If a topic does not fall into one of those, it does not belong here.
We write for people who want to make a decision and move on. That means naming the trade-off rather than hedging, saying when something is not worth the money, and giving the specific command, setting, or figure instead of a vague gesture at one.
Accuracy
Every factual claim we publish is expected to be checkable. In practice that means:
- Figures are dated. Prices, storage tiers, version numbers, and benchmark results change. Where we quote one, it reflects what we could verify at the time of writing or the most recent update.
- Specifications come from the manufacturer or a primary source, not from another article that quoted a third article.
- We distinguish what we measured from what is claimed. A manufacturer’s rated speed and a real-world result are not the same number and we do not present them as though they were.
- Uncertainty is stated. If we do not know something, or a recommendation depends on circumstances we cannot see, we say so rather than papering over it.
Updates and Dating
Technology writing goes stale fast. A guide that was correct eighteen months ago can now be actively misleading — a discontinued product, a changed free tier, a deprecated API.
We revisit articles that cover fast-moving subjects and revise them in place rather than publishing a near-identical replacement. Where an article has been substantively updated, the updated date is shown alongside the original publication date at the top of the page. Minor corrections do not change that date; substantive revisions do.
Corrections
We would rather fix something than leave it standing wrong, and we would rather hear about an error from a reader than not hear about it at all.
If you find a factual mistake, email us with the article and the specific error. Corrections to substantive factual errors are made promptly, and where a correction materially changes a recommendation, we note the change rather than quietly editing it away.
We do not remove articles to hide having been wrong about something.
Recommendations and Reviews
Where an article recommends a product:
- The recommendation is not paid placement. We do not accept payment, product, or any other consideration in exchange for a positive verdict, a ranking position, or coverage at all.
- We say when something is not worth buying, including when the honest answer is that the reader should keep what they already have or buy nothing.
- Price tiers matter. A recommendation that only makes sense at one budget is labelled as such, because “best” is meaningless without saying best for whom.
- Where a product has a real drawback, it appears in the article rather than being omitted for tidiness.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising. Advertisements are served by third-party ad networks and are selected automatically; TechPulse does not choose which specific advertisers appear on any given page.
Advertising has no influence over editorial content. No advertiser receives coverage, favourable treatment, or advance sight of an article in exchange for spending. No advertiser can have an article altered or removed. If an advertiser sells a product we think is bad, we will say it is bad.
Ads are labelled and are visually separated from article content. We do not format advertising to resemble editorial, and we do not place ads in a way designed to attract accidental clicks. How advertising cookies work on this site is described in our Privacy Policy.
Sources and Attribution
Where an article draws on someone else’s testing, documentation, or reporting, we link to it. We do not reproduce other publications’ work as our own, and we do not pass off a summary of a single external source as independent research.
Quotations are attributed. Where we reference figures published elsewhere, the source is named.
Translations
Articles are made available in English, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, and Bengali so that readers can use them in the language they think in. Translated versions carry the same substance as the English original, and when the English article is revised, its translations are revised with it.
If a translated article reads poorly or has lost the meaning of the original, that is a defect and we want to know about it.
Comments
Comments are welcome, including critical ones. We remove spam, personal abuse, and content that exists only to promote something. Disagreement with an article is not grounds for removal.
Independence
TechPulse is independently run. It is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any manufacturer, retailer, or platform whose products it covers.
